About Us.
The purpose of the Society is to provide assistance and facilities for family historians to research their family.
The Toowoomba & Darling Downs Family History Society was formed as part of the Genealogical Society of Queensland. In August 1987 the society became a separate entity and was incorporated on 6 April 1988.
The Society library was housed at 30 Smithfield Street Toowoomba until April 1996 when it was given the use of two small rooms behind the Toowoomba Historical Society at 49 Lindsay Street Toowoomba.
In October 1999 the Toowoomba & Darling Downs Family History Society Inc. moved 61 Drayton Road in what was the former Drayton North Post Office.

On the 1st of November 2006 the building, generously donated to the society by Michael Harrison of Village On The Downs, was moved to its current location at 452 South Street Toowoomba on land provided by the Toowomba City Council.
